@mosgaard interesting to read how functionality shapes our creativity.
With Harrison #mixbus I am in the process of understanding how the DAW wants to be utilized instead of me forcing it to adhere to my habits. So-called Region FX (now also in #Ardour) are helping, but I‘m still slowly learning the ins and outs (literally).
It‘s fun having a new learning curve after about 10 years on basically the same DAW.

So, eventually I had that director sitting next to me yesterday in my little studio room and he liked everything I had done.

The fake knocking on a bunker door with this triggered Sitala drum sampler plugin that uses sounds from 3 different doors and a screw clamp. Plus real air raid shelter IR reverb. The opening and closing of that door including other samples from the 3 doors and the screw clamp, plus a door squeak I downloaded from Freesound (with license CC0)…

… enabled by Robin's new MIDI cluster plugin and my LUA attempts for spacing out regions.

… and having a little extra fun, we did a fake radio news broadcast, recorded directly via a 60ties Beyer (now Beyerdynamic) mic to a 70ties Uher 4000 Report IC tape machine with autogain… and recording into #MixBus from the speaker of that tape machine, it again sounded too real and too well… too less fake mini radio, but FabFilter ProQ3 was there to help.

Here's another tip for you, @BrodieOnLinux .

In the world of instrument and effect plugins, there are #AudioPlugins modelled after analogue counterparts.

I've always found it fascinating, how you simulate a faulty capacitor, a crack in a tube or dirt on a lead, to recreate classic & vintage sound.

If you want that on #Linux - and want that vintage sound, with warm compressors and EQs, I suggest you check out #Mixbus. It's a #DAW with built in SSL grade modelled sound.

There's a part of me that wants to sell my #Ableton license and move over to Bitwig. The chief reason being I want to move from Windows and refuse to move to MacOS.

I'd like an operating system where I have control instead of some American Silicon Valley vendor.

#Bitwig, #Reaper, #Mixbus, even #PreSonus StudioOne has a beta in Linux.

#AbletonLive costing as much as it does gives me pause upgrading from 11 to 12, because for the same price, I can get a cross platform DAW.

So, Today I plugged my Alesis e-drum total kit USB out into my laptop running Ubuntu Studio, I loaded up the red zepplin drum kit lv2 plugin in Mixbus for the first time. I was really happy to find out that It just worked ootb and now I'm tracking my own drums with a decent sounding sample kit!
