Joseph Hall, Puritan, considers Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.”

Hall insists that God has good credit. God has given to us enough so that we may freely lend, and by grace instilled in us a heart that is willing to do so. This is God’s bounty and his justice.
