You head out to the garage once again. The air conditioner is running pretty loudly, mounted in the only window the space has. Nobody expects a garage to need more than one or two windows. Nobody expects to have a giant anthropomorphic canine living in your house either.
The giant dog perks their ears up and starts wagging their tail against the cool, concrete floor. Their body is positioned against an old mattress that they barely fits on. You didn’t think you would be using it again after you bought that new fancy one online, but they proved you wrong.
“[Awwrrrf!]” They bark happily, pulling you in a warm embrace as you reach their range. Your body is briefly pressed up against their chest, your perception blinded by their fluffy fur as your upper torso is held by their large hand.
“Sorry, sorry, I can’t help myself in this form!” They wag their tail again. “Thanks again for pulling out the mattress and blankets for me, hun, I promise I’ll help put it away once this moon cycle ends,” Their ears tilt in embarrassment. “I appreciate you putting up the AC; it was SO HOT in here!” They pant and growl lightly, then leaning over to lick from the kiddie pool you’ve refitted to be her new water bowl.
“I-It’s okay!” You reassure them. “We’ll figure it out. I love you.” You smile up at them.
“[Gawrrraff!] S-sorry; I-I love you, too.” They giggle and wag their tail. “I-It’s different having someone… supportive.” They pant gently.
You appreciated these weeks with them, though. It was part of why you married them.
