Power. People. PIPELINE: Milwaukee Tool’s Commitment in Action

A behind the scenes look at Milwaukee Tool’s PIPELINE event where innovation met commitment to the skilled trades and its workforce.

Turf Magazine

Ugh.

Dear #MilwaukeeTool,

We have decided we really like your outdoor power tools as battery options. Which is why it's REALLY ANNOYING when you screw something up.

I'm trying to teach to maintenance here, and while the pictogram on the top is accurate, the pictogram on the bottom is mirror imaged, NOT rotated 180° as it should be.

😡

Not cool.

Two identically designed tool bags;

The #MilwaukeeTool one lasted *three months* of average use before some nylon tore near a seam, exposing metal that scratches anyone trying to zip it shut.

The #HuskyTools one is still in excellent (well worn) shape many years into everyday use on daily jobs keeping a 100+yo house upright.

Clearly, Fame. Isn't. Everything.

😉

@ai6yr

🤦
Oh, FFS.

Finally applied some logic & took the time to compare/contrast the pole saw with the other saws.

WTF #MilwaukeeTool.

I've got pics & an explanation to share later, but I'm on a break from fruit tree pruning time right now.

Short version is excellent construction of flawed design.

(Yeah, I know you don't really care - but too bad. You can mute me this evening if I actually get around to ranting.)

The last 2 years I had at least 1 of my expensive milwaukee batteries go into the spring season failed, prompting a warranty replacement. I’m going through them now to see how they fared this winter and so far they’re all going strong.

Reviewing the replaced batteries: It looks like both batteries that failed were the ones that came with my mower. The purchased batteries are still going pretty strong. And it looks like the warranty replacement batteries survived.

I need to start the process of another #warranty claim on a #MilwaukeeTool #battery.

The first battery that failed came with the mower. I’m pretty sure this one is the second battery that came with the mower. It came with 2 because it runs on 2. So I wonder if these early failures will be limited to these 2.

It’s still in warranty, so should be a free replacement. Just have to ship it out from a specific FedEx location here due to the size/capacity.

Went to Home Depot to pick up some new tooling for sharpening the lawn mower blades. Checked out the Milwaukee angle grinders and saw they had one on sale for $120. Figured, why not, it’s not terribly expensive.

Clerk couldn’t find the stock at first. Turns out, they were basically on blowout for being prior generation…for $70…and they had a couple.

So I got a $150-ish tool and flap wheel for $90 out the door.

Definitely made sharpening the mower blade WAY faster.

Update on the #MilwaukeeTool #Warranty situation:

They replaced the handle. Technically.

They sent an entire Quik-Lok string trimmer kit, no questions asked. I now have 2 power heads. Also 2 string trimmer attachments.

The edger attachment doesn’t need a handle so this basically makes it so I don’t have to swap heads anymore.

The new string trimmer head seems to be smoother so I’ll switch to using that.

So yeah, #Milwuakee wins on the warranty front.

Went to check for marks on the shaft of my Milwaukee trimmer power head to reattach the should strap mount. Noticed no marks so figured the shaft was replaced.

Then I noticed they likely replaced the shaft and didn’t transfer the handle. There’s no fore handle on it. This is super important for using this correctly and comfortably.

I can probably get by with just the shoulder strap until they send the replacement handle. Need to call them though.
