So a Judge Tried to Ban the Abortion Pill. What Happens Now?

It's looking very likely that the Supreme Court will soon get to rule on access to medication abortions, which have been safe and common for over 20 years.

"Catastrophic": Trump-Appointed Judge in Texas May Restrict Abortion Pill Mifepristone Nationwide

We look at today's hearing by a federal judge in Texas who could restrict medication abortions throughout the United States and revoke the Food and Drug Administration's two-decade-old approval of mifepristone, the abortion medication used in a majority of pregnancy terminations across the country. The Trump-appointed judge has ruled against the Biden administration in numerous cases and is widely expected to favor the anti-abortion side in the case, though an appeal of any ruling is all but certain. Amy Littlefield, The Nation's abortion access correspondent, says that while medication abortions are still possible without mifepristone, it can be less effective and more painful. "We're talking about imposing suffering on medication abortion patients across the country," Littlefield says. W O M EN'S RIGHTS UNDER ATTACK AGAIN

As a Texas District Judge considers the first major attack on a woman's right to choose since SCOTUS struck down Roe v. Wade, it's important to acknowledge that the Trump-appointed Judge is not a medical expert, but the FDA is.

The FDA approved Mifepristone -AKA Mifeprexin September 2009, raising the question of why now? Why take a lawsuit to SCOTUS 20+ years after FDA approval.

It's a political move and about control, but again, why question it's approval now?

In their Questions and Answers about Mifepristone, the FDA is transparent about the drug, including info about possible side effects and who should not take the drug.
