The Somerset & Dorset Railway at Midsomer Norton has been clearing overgrown vegetation in order to is get the railway ready for the 2025 season.
When #MidsomerNorton’s town hall was being built c.1860, a young girl called Sarah Ann (possibly Thompson) felt sorry for the stonemasons working in the sun. So she would fetch water to quench their thirst. Later, the Sarah Ann Trust was set up to manage the hall. Above the main entrance is an arch. On the left end of it is a carving of a girl’s head + on the right is a water pitcher, both commemorating Sarah Ann.
