Today I visited Derby. Lunch was had at the PepperPot - an award winning two rosette star credited restaurant and after lunch tracks were made for the Derby Theatre to watch the matinée of Midsomer Murders. This was an adaptation of both the book and TV drama that was aired some 30 years ago.

Midsomer Murders is one of those long-running, much-loved British crime series filled with slightly implausible deaths and a central cast of familiar characters.

have decided that John Nettles, the original Barnaby in #MidsomerMurders is the William Shatner of the UK. as he gets older in the part, he does a clipped and breathless enunciation. it’s just weird. he really gives the John Barton Royal Shakespeare Company treatment to those silly scripts.
