i mean it's all not exactly original, bringing up vampirism in the context of the eucarist, etc etc, but it's a very clear picture of how guilt is built into the catholic church as an institution and that's, in a way, so wholesome to see, if that makes any sense.

currently i'm watching midnight mass on netflix and although it features my least favorite main character, the tragic man(tm) whom maybeeeee the maker indentifies a lot with, it gets so much right about christianity and catholicism on an emotional level. for example the priest who is creepy exactly BECAUSE he deeply cares about his sheep and wants to "save" them in a way that actually mutilates them. >>
