If you're using Google Maps on #CalyxOS and it stopped working recently, that's because newer versions of Maps need a newer #microG version to work. As CalyxOS paused development, the workaround for now is to downgrade Maps to version 1068495399 (March release).

1. Uninstall Maps app
2. Open Aurora store, find "Google Maps" app
3. Click "Select version"
4. Put "1068495399"
5. Don't update Maps before you upgraded CalyxOS to the upcoming release

Wollte #wero aktivieren, klappt aber nicht. Ich habe die App aus dem #aurora Store installiert und die #deutschebank ausgewählt. Dort durch die Login/Tan/Zustimmung-Prozedur geklickt um am Ende auf einer Statusseite zu landen, die einen Link zum PlayStore präsentiert. Klick darauf öffnet die Aurora-Startseite. Wenn ich dann die wero App schließe + neu starte muss ich von vorne anfangen, bei Klick auf die Bank hängt die App dauerhaft. Hilft nur deinstallieren/neu installieren aber mit gleichem Ergebnis.
Wahrscheinlich Fehlende #googleservices oder #microg, habe beides auf #lineageos nicht installiert.
Schade, denn #paypal funktioniert problemlos...

@viralobscurity @omgubuntu while I agree with the sentiment, no part of it will help with the issues described in the original post.

Media gatekeeping is worse than US cable media of decades earlier already and apps will be affected the same on android, play services or not. And while there is a way to get play store apps with a #degoogled OS like with #microG, the age verification framework will hit stern resistance with the userbase and apps will probably just not work.

Impractical for most.

@a android is different. Many services that run in the background of iOS are packed into Google play services and store on android. Without those you will suffer a significant loss of usability and app compatibility. Projects like #microG and #eOS try to fill that gap.

Die Einstellungen von #FairEmail gingen sehr einfach im alten Handy zu exportieren, dann per Bluetooth übertragen, und im neuen importiert.

Bei #Threema dasselbe. Das ging letztes mal recht einfach, da sehe ich kein Problem.

🤔 Für zwei Apps braucht man #MicroG, die Anmeldung zum Google-Account mit E-Mail und Passwort hat mit Fehlermeldung geendet?

* logithèque avec #fdroid et #aurora,
* système avec #lineageos #/e/os #iodeos #grapheneos en parlant aussi de #microg.
* choix du téléphone, pour l'installer soi-même ou en #flashparty ou l'acheter préinstaller chez @murena ou @iode

Hi, kleiner Mutmacher für Zögernde (ich selbst bin technisch eher... unbegabt) : ich bin vor ~6 Wochen auf ein auf #LineageOS basierendes Betriebssystem umgestiegen. Es fühlt sich gut an, in keiner Weise auf den Google Play Store (auch nicht auf #Aurora ) angewiesen zu sein. Alles fühlt sich "smoother" an. Ja, ohne #microG geht einiges nicht (Banking), aber für mich ist es eine Befreiung. Alles über #fdroid installiert
