I've made a bench for #PaddyTheCaddy.
It pulls out in 2 sections to make 3/4 of a bed. The remaining 1/4 will be at this end and built onto a folded down middle row seat.
Bits aren't straight. Some of the joints and screws are woeful and I've already identified things to improve or correct but, overall, I'm well chuffed with that. Look what I made! 😃
I'm starting to believe that I will eventually have a #campervan.
The frame of the bench is secured to the floor.
I've built the small section of pull-out bed. (Subject to some minor additional fettling.)
I'm identifying lessons at every stage. #PaddyTheCaddy2 is going to be AMAZING!!
I've bought some instruments of torture, er, <checks notes> trim removal tools for #PaddyTheCaddy.
I've just had the rear section of carpet up. I didn't really need the new tools for that. I used my Lidl bike torque wrench. 😄
For many years I was an independent ruffty tuffty camper. All my kit carried on my back, I'd set off into the most remote parts of England, Scotland and Wales and enjoy the solitude and the "back to basics" nature of simple camping.
Now, as I get a bit older, I'm entering a new chapter. Yesterday I bought a VW Caddy Maxi van which I'm going to convert into a #MicroCamper.
Currently my ambition far exceeds my ability but I have a good idea about what I want to do. I'll probably make a simple bed and kitchen myself while I experiment with my requirements. Then I may get someone to make something more permanent and professional.
It's all a bit overwhelming but incredibly exciting!
