🇨🇦🚇 #Alstom has marked the opening of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) extension to Montreal’s West Island, delivered by CDPQ Infra. The 14km extension adds four stations and connects Anse-à-l’Orme to the existing network, bringing the REM to 64km and 23 stations. The fully electric automated metro operates 20 hours a day, with trains every four minutes on central sections at peak times. Alstom supplied the driverless light #metro system, including 212 #Metropolis cars, Urbalis signalling, platform screen doors and onboard Wi-Fi, and will support operations and maintenance for 30 years through its Pulsar joint venture. The project is expected to improve access to central Montreal, reduce reliance on cars and support local jobs and expertise in automated #transport systems across #Quebec.

I've started rewatching #metropolis , the beginning in the factory with the choreography of the workers being part of the machine is amazing. Especially before and after the industrial accident.

Very human in the loop. Next year will be 100 years since that film release and at the moment, human rights seem quite far away in service to capitalism. Particularly because of my field.

Die Student:innen an der UCF in Florida liessen sich in dieser Rede nicht so einfach mit "Human Slop" zukuebeln
