Andrea KamphuisNachdem ich gestern in der Wahner Heide die #MerlinBirdID App einsetzen wollte, kann ich bestätigen, was andere schon diskutiert haben: krasse #Verschlechterung nach dem letzten Update. Was ich an der App geschätzt habe, war gerade, dass sie nicht nur die dominante Vogelstimme analysiert hat, sondern fast alles, was gerade zu hören war. Gestern: Zilpzalp, Schluss. Während mich eigentlich das Flöten einer fliegenden Viererbande interessierte. (Waren schlicht Eichelhäher, wie die Fotos zeigten.)

Maria Langer | 📝🛥️💎I was curious to know what bird was the chatty cathy out there and it turns out that it's a house finch. It is chattering up a storm this morning. The quail is further away and I can hear its call in the distance. The Robin is a kind of boring chirp. I can see both the finches and the robins up in my big tree, which still hasn't leafed out, although it is starting to get close.
Ian HillI have a great little app on my phone called Merlin - it’s basically Shazam for bird song. Always fun to see who’s back in the area - today is the first time this Spring for the chickadees.

Today's fun discovery; the Merlin Bird ID app. Now, every time I hear some bird calls, I whip it out to take a recording.
It identifies well even against strong winds, loud wind chimes, and shouty kids.
Let's see if I can haul my arse out of bed to record the dawn chorus this weekend.

Edit: More precisely, all app icon text has a drop shadow, but only #MerlinBirdID is misaligned.
