Premiere for tights today since I started working before the sun had warmed everything.
I am very happy with my new jacket, and my older dress.
Jacket from velvet curtains and a table runner, dress from a bed sheet. The blouse, like all the material used for sewing, is thrifted.
I prefer me-made clothes.
I had two nice hours with students studying history their second semester, introducibg them to various perspectives on the study of clothing in historical research.

I was complimented for my "elegant dress" yesterday.
Elegant is NOT the word that I would have chosen. "Colourful", "fun", "creative" yes. Elegant no
It is made from a thrifted 1970s table cloth, and the cut is from traditional clothing from Balkan and West Asian.

On my way to the water physio. I made the dress, from a thrifted double bed sheet, and vintage lace. All of it I think, from Mölndals secondhand, a cheap, and very good charity shop near where I live. My friend and neighbour Anna knit the shawl. I have some fake flowers around my braided bun, to look more spring like
On the bus now, wishing the teenagers wouldn't smoke just before getting on the bus, it clogs up my wind pipes.

I must not look at any more fabric!
I use Trello to digitally store my patterns and fabric.
The fabric is listed as to whether it's stretch or woven. It's almost like visiting an online shop. Often I think oh I didn't know I had that. Sometimes I make notes on what I'm going to do with it.

Awkward bathroom selfie but I'm feeling very Christmasy today!
This is a dress I made last year for Christmas and it's so comfy! It's still on my list to make in a black and white gingham so I have a more timeless version but I love getting to wear this each year.

Today I will learn how to sew/install zippers and buttonholes properly. The 3-hour workshop is at the [Gaye Abandon] School of Sewing and Upcycling in Footscray. https://schoolofsewingandupcycling.com.au/product/zippers-and-buttonholes-sewing-workshop/

I’ve made a pair of zip fly pants before (see photo) but not without struggle and a round of unpicking stitches. And I’ve always messed up invisible zips. Hoping to pick up a few techniques today and stop running away from patterns that require invisible and lapped zips. Huzzah!

@sonyaknits Hi! I'm really glad to meet people with a similar background to me over here. I'm an avid sewist and student of info & library mgt :) I'm quite new to Mastodon, so please bear with me. I'm currently in the middle of a metadata subject and just about to embark on a sewing project that involves some hacking (i.e., making a wrap dress out of the peppermint wrap top & peppermint wrap skirt). Should be fun!
