L'actualització de l’índex Planeta Viu (IPI-CAT) de l’Observatori del Patrimoni Natural i la Biodiversitat indica que les poblacions d’animals salvatges a Catalunya va davallar un 28% entre els anys 2002 i 2023. Entre les papallones, l’escac ferruginós (Melanargia occitanica) és una de les que ha patit més pèrdues.
