Op hoge leeftijd is in Canada de Veurnse pianist Frans Brouw gestorven. In 1952 werd hij 4e in de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd voor piano. Sinds de jaren 60 woonde Brouw met zijn gezin in Quebec. Recent heeft het VRT-archief de live-uitzending van zijn finale in de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd gerestaureerd en gedigitaliseerd.
