What a nice surprise trying a #selfhosted instance of #MiroTalk SFU and finding how well it works.

MiroTalk is a Web-based videoconference system such as #Zoom, #Teams, or #Jitsi that I had not heard about until a couple of days ago. It seems to be based on #mediasoup to perform #WebRTC based SFU videoconferencing.

Its deployment is significantly simpler than Jitsi and it arguably seems to work better. It even has additional features like video recording and file sharing.

Das #Videokonferenzssystem #EduMeet verdient vielleicht etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit.

Meine bisherigen Erfahrungen:

* bessere Browserkompatibilität im Vergl. zu #Jitsi

* leichteres onboarding im Vergl. zu #BigBlueButton

@fairkom @senfcall @NGIZero @emacsomancer just to give some context: this is the issue, you are referring to https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton/issues/13746 (it is actually a bug in #Firefox, not in #Mediasoup / #BigBlueButton).
The relay workaround is introduced in this PR https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton/pull/13789 and has to be enabled in the configuration afterwards. I am not sure if this also happens if you use #Kurento.

#SpenSenfMastodon Tag 3: Seit BigBlueButton Version 2.4. benötigt #BBB deutlich weniger Ressourcen und kann deutlich mehr Menschen gleichzeitig auf einem Server verkraften. Der Grund dafür? #Firefox Version 96 User hatten mit #BigBlueButton (falls #Mediasoup verwendet wurde) das Problem, #Webcam und Bildschirmübertragung zu sehen, aber nicht an andere Teilnehmende zu übertragen (https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton/issues/14066). Dies ist in #BBB 2.4.1. gefixt und seit gestern auch auf #Senfcall verfügbar, sodass ihr wie gewohnt euren Lieblingsbrowser nutzen könnt.
