#SynthSaturday bonus content

The MB6582 pictured earlier in the thread is my own that I built. It’s an open-source design that incorporates SID chips to generate all sounds.

The #SIDchip was the audio chip used for the #Commodore64 home computer. A C64 had just one SID. My #MB6582 has eight SID chips.

#Synths come in huge variety of shapes and sizes and form factors. Some have piano-like keyboards, some have little button keyboards in the shape of a piano keyboard, and some don’t have keyboards at all. Some are palm-sized, some are taller than me.

Taken from our idea bin and fleshed out a little. It's far from complete and it'll be interesting to see what it sounds like when we're finished. But it was catchy enough I thought I'd share it out. The patch I made on my modular, while not as complicated as it could be, is certainly fun (it's the main foldy bassline thing you hear throughout the song).

Folding Space (Work In Progress)

Fully a work in progress we've had sitting around for a while that I picked back up a few days ago and started working on again. It currently doesn't fit the more industrial sound we've been going for

@Jyoti favorite #vintagesynthesizer: #ARP2600 probably? It sounds great, it can do simple or complex, and it’s got some interesting design decisions that set it apart from similar synths

Favorite #newsynthesizer: might be cheating because it’s DIY only and existed for fifteen years now, but #MB6582. It’s got 8 SID chips for four stereo voice, a knobby interface, and an absurdly powerful mod matrix. What’s not to love?!

Another teaser! It's the Osiris + Lowpass Gate song I was working only, though now it has some pretty good guitar work from John, especially given they're scratch tracks.

It will be interesting to see where this goes! It doesn't quite fit the sound of the new album we're working on - it might end up being a single, we might end up approaching parts in a different way, or it might just sit on the shelf as it were.

A-101-LPG Teaser, Part II

Another teaser of a song we're working on. It's got a ways to go but sounds pretty good with some of John's scratch guitar tracks on it, Tim also got his MB6582 seeming working somewhat reliably. Mai

Yeah so I did say Hero was, by far, the most different of all our albums :) I really like it though I do generally prefer getting to use my Eurorack and synths and things. And speaking of, I posted it before, but for something that's a bit more like our current sound, here's our cover of Nights In White Satin (yes we spell ours Knights, on purpose):

We use a ton of stuff in this song. As I recall, John uses 2 guitars (his Start and Jackson though it might just be the jackson), my quirky MB6582 SID synth, a GameBoy, Modbap's Osiris wavetable oscillator, my Access Virus, several filters (pretty sure my favorite modular filter, the Doepfer WASP is in here), Dreadbox Nostalgia, FX Aid, Expert Sleeper's Persephone and uhm...some other stuff!

It was a ton of fun to do and is a good example of what to expect for our upcoming industrial inspired album (something we're working on alongside a new Chipsurf album).
