ContrarianI'm not sure why Mom was opposed to #DnD at first, because the #SatanicPanic hadn't started in earnest yet. #PatriciaPulling wasn't even "bothered about Dungeons & Dragons" yet!
The closest thing to a reason to worry was probably the 1979 #MazesAndMonsters #urbanlegend, which was unfortunately local to us in Michigan. (Mom was always too influenced by media panic; she refused to get a personal computer in our home because she thought I'd become a hacker!)

I finally watched my Plumeria Blu-ray release of Mazes & Monsters. Restored from the best available source, apparently. I don’t fucking think so. Hopefully won’t need to . . . roll the dice on any of their other releases.

Juan BautyVista también #ElUmbralDelJuego (#MazesAndMonsters, 1982), una TV movie que tuvo cierta controversia por tratar el tema de los "peligros" de los juegos de rol, en una época en la que empezaban a ser populares y algunas voces y medios se levantaron alertando de que jugar a rol creaba psicópatas.
Hoy día da bastante candor verla, pero a su favor debo decir que, pese al rechazo que obtuvo de la comunidad rolera, es bastante inofensiva y deja bien claro que el personaje problemático (un joven Tom Hanks) lo es porque está trastornado, no porque los juegos de rol tengan peligro alguno.
Me parece más "grave" el tufillo homófobo encubierto que le veo; no deja de ser curioso que el protagonista sea un tipo que no quiere/puede tener relaciones sexuales con mujeres y que sus "visiones" siniestras tengan un aire filogay.
Con sus defectos propios de ser un telefilme, lo cierto es que es interesante por ser una de las pocas películas que tratan este tema.
