Some background After graduating in Electronic Engineering, I worked from the mid-1990s to 2008 in the telecom industry (including a couple of years in the Silicon Valley), designing and testing ASICs, FPGAs and broadband telecom systems, using Unix and Linux on a daily basis. I started writing freelance in the early 2000s, going full-time in 2008. From 2015 to 2017 I also worked as researcher and Work Package Leader for Dissemination, future roadmap and sustainability in the EU-H2020 project DiDIY (Digital DIY).
