It's #ThursDeath, so I suppose I should mention the new LP 'Pain Effulgence' by Boston, Massachusetts' INNUMERABLE FORMS. These guys have been around a while, and I wasn't familiar with them until this year, a few months ago. I listened to their earlier stuff, and it's great, but this new one is EPICALLY good. Super deathy and doomy and dynamics -- everything great about death metal.

Released just last Friday, I'd been psyched for this one. It didn't disappoint. Eight grody tracks of sludgy, deathy riffage. Love the vocals. The drums. Just all of it.

As far as I recall, I have never posted anything by Carla Ryder. So, here goes. Of those Carla Ryder Band songs I have heard, this is my favorite.

The first time Carla Ryder came to my attention, she was a member of a Massachusetts cover band, the Mudhens. Since then, she has been both a rock singer-songwriter and the leader of the Carla Ryder Band. Ryder is also in the group, Miriam, with Amy Fairchild.

The source album is credited, by mistake, to Various Artists. Instead, this track is from the final - and best - Fuzzy full length release. For one (very positive) thing, Chris Toppin's voice is brought into play a lot more than on prior releases. Harmonies on this album are very nice.

Fuzzy may be best remembered for the single, "Flashlight," from the eponymous full length CD.

The Fools may be most remembered for "Psycho Chicken" and "Life Sucks Then You Die" (especially the hilarious bleeped version). Novelty aside, though, "It's a Night" may have been the band's finest song. Five Stars

While I did follow The Sighs during the band's run, I know nothing about this song, "No Caroline," beyond that I like it. Was it in some way inspired by the famed Brian Wilson single, "Caroline No"? I don't Caroline know.

While "Caroline No" has come to be thoroughly associated with The Beach Boys, it was actually the first hit single Brian Wilson had under his own name.
