This is really important. There is an article in the South Korean constitution that allows the president to declare martial law *shudder*, but it can be undone if parliament/national assembly revokes it. But Yoon is prohibiting the National Assembly from convening. He's breaking the law--but he's got the military, so he can. The only thing anyone can count on is continuing enmity with North Korea, and if South Korea is a dictatorship again, there is zero chance that this will be resolved peacefully. Everything is else is on the table. I would not be surprised--at all-- to see a South Korean dictatorship more closely aligned with China and de facto Russia, which would mean Taiwan and Japan will have hard choices to make 2/ #korea #martialllaw

A long-standing elephant in the room has been the development or acquisition of nuclear weapons for South Korea. If you've got hawks like Yoon and Defense Minister Kim, it's a safe bet that the balance is tilting in favor of those weapons.
