NASA's Perseverance Rover has confirmed an ancient river system existed in the Jezero Delta region of Mars billions of years ago.

Perseverance's RIMFAX, a ground-penetrating radar instrument took measurements over the course of 78 traverses between Sept 2023 and Feb 2024, collecting data along a trail some 6.1 kilometers (3.8 miles) long. Those measurements penetrated to depths greater than 35 meters (115 feet).
