Good morning. 🌹🌹🌹
6 December 2025
As I was walking down the street one day with Charlie, a fellow I knew from my last job pulled over while driving by, and we spent a few minutes catching up. This was maybe a month ago. He filled me in on the latest gossip—things I’m mostly oblivious to these days, especially since I stopped working. He still has more contact with the old crowd than I do.
Anyway, he reported that a mutual acquaintance, someone who had also worked at the same place in a mid-management role, came up hot on a drug test and was immediately fired. Interesting, I thought. I personally worked there for 17 years, and although drug testing was always a possibility, not once did they ever administer one to employees.
The rumor is that marijuana was the source of the infraction. Since the work involves a government contract, such things are still very much frowned upon. Of course, my information is at least third-hand—passed from someone who heard it from someone else, who probably heard it from yet another source. Still, I have to assume other employees would notice the absence of a familiar figure who had been on the job for over 20 years.
The man I spoke with also mentioned that marijuana is legal in Louisiana. It isn’t—except for medical use. I suppose I can understand his confusion, with so many states around the country declaring it legal for recreational purposes. But not Louisiana.
