Saw some dramatic mammatus clouds near Roslyn today on my way over the pass. This cell moved south to north over I-90. Thankfully, I hit it right as it started to fall apart, so no hail.

After the severe storms here in central Illinois on Monday, we had these mammatus clouds near sunset. Mammatus are caused by pockets of cold air descending through the clouds and interacting with rising warm air. These clouds are often seen with cumulonimbus, or thunderstorm clouds.
