A month ago today we unexpectedly lost "our" stray cat Tux. Yesterday I planted some baby's breath (gypsophila) on his grave and as the sun was setting I found his mama lounging in the grass nearby. ♥️

Sitting outside again with Mama Lemon, I aimed my flashlight into the backyard and all I saw was her zooming through the light beam like this, hunting bugs in the grass. And a moment later she charged at an unsuspecting hedgehog who didn't want to play with her. 😂 I would never have thought a month ago that this little lady could be such a hyper weirdo.

Sat outside with Mama Lemon before going to bed. She suddenly walked up to something just around the corner. I heard and saw movement but couldn't quite make it out in the dark. So I set my camera to night mode and snapped a pic. It's another member of the family who has been visiting more recently. We named him/her Dickie because of the shape of the white spot on his/her snoot. And also because we're childish 😁 Dickie is adorable btw.
I was drinking my coffee outside with Mama Lemon this morning. Suddenly I felt something tug at my leg. Turns out our indoor weirdos got it from her after all. At this point I'm convinced that we never saw her play before because she was on guard around Tux, who had a tendency to play a little too rough for her liking.
That doesn't make me miss him any less, but I am glad to finally see this side of his mama. ♥️

We have never seen her play until a few days ago. She spent most of the last two days on the porch, but while I was tidying up outside just now I saw her hunting bees in the thyme flowers. So maybe thyme does heal all wounds. (Sorry, I had to 😁)

Tux has been fighting again, so he came back to his safe haven to lick his wounds (which is a pattern I've noticed with him) His mama was seeking shelter from the recent stormy weather, so they're keeping each other company. It's adorable that they still do this when one of them is feeling low, But I also wish neither of them were feeling low.
Life for stray cats can get pretty shitty tbh, that's why we keep our own cats indoors.
