I just realised this is the first time we have a hung parliament situation. Just hoping now our leaders continue to do what's best for the country. (The tone taken by the Menteri Besar of Johor is encouraging -- urging a rebuilding by listening to the people.)

It does appear that there is some convergence with global politics as people across the world experience some of the same things: widening wealth inequality and urban/rural divides due to globalisation, concentration of wealth in the few, uneven development, etc. And, since the pandemic, inflation, which is really painful on the everyday level.

Hopefully, we can look soberly at what has happened in other countries and deal with race and religion in ways that bring us together, not divide us.

With climate effects bearing down on us, we cannot afford to be divided. And we need leaders who are able to gain the trust of the people on the changes that we must prepare for.
