Haunting Art

"Half-way up the stairs it stands,
And points and beckons with its hands
From its case of massive oak,

'The Old Clock on the Stairs' a watercolor illustration by William Ladd Taylor, feels all the more haunting when paired with this snippet from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem of the same name that it first appeared with in a 1904 issue of Ladies Home Journal.
