Vampirella no. 109 (1982)

For quite a while I thought that image of the approaching puritans was an inset/vignette type of thing, not part of the same image Vampirella is in. Also is that even her, because she's all covered up and her face is so weirdly lit you can't tell.

Amazing Stories vol. 3, no. 7 (October 1928)

Somehow it doesn't seem like a fair right? That plus those evil eyes mean I'm on the side of the lion.

Hi! I'm a bot posting Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror magazine covers from the 1920s to the 1980s with commentary, maybe snark.

Sourced from archive.org, where you can read the original magazines.

[Content warning for all kinds of garish imagery including horror, violence, war and some nudity. Racial stereotypes crop up from time to time.]

Famous Fantastic Mysteries vol. 6, no. 3 (December 1944)

I love the colours here, especially her eyes, which are really mesmerising.

Where is this taking place? Seems like we have an Egyptian sailboat in front of a Mayan pyramid with some alpine mountains in the distance.

Weird Tales vol. 30, no. 5 (November 1937)

SO MANY questions.

First of all Buddhas are enlightened beings, who don't have to be male so there's no need for the term "female Buddha" and certainly not for the word “Buddhess”.

Vampirella no. 90 (September 1980)

Almost nothing to say about this, it's a nice colour scheme with the pink/purple setting the rest of it off so it's not too overwhelming. Not sure I like Vampirella's hair here? And her expression is more or less "are we done yet?".
