I've used a transparent smoke colored glass to make these beads, along with champagne and white overlaid with dark purple that appears black in all but bright natural light, and some opaque earth tones. I've just finished this, which is directly based upon ancient Hellenistic and early Roman "evil eye" beads. I've used Murano glass, of course, to make the components. The focal beads is transparent dark violet, the other beads transparent cobalt blue, and the "eyes" opaque yellow, teal and dark red.
