Still steady rain where I am in the #MacedonRanges.

My gardening chair. Yup, my back insists I mostly garden while sitting. 🤷‍♂️

Dead fox line the fence of a local property after several nights of #fox #culling. (I took the photos several years ago)

I woke at 1am with #winds hammering the house & the wheelie bins slamming into our garage door.

Just woke again (highly medicated) with winds & #rain hitting the bedroom windows.

🤗 Still happy at getting some rain. The #weather radar looks encouraging. #MacedonRanges

It’s trying very hard to #rain here!

We are leaving now. Roads were chock full of cars #evacuating & I wanted to power up my devices.

We are headed south.

We learnt scant local history when growing up at Mount Macedon.
We learnt that Major Mitchell climbed and named the mountain. We learnt about the destruction and loss of life during the Ash Wednesday bushfires.
We learnt that the Victorian Governor, Robert Menzies and Derryn Hinch all had mansions here.

But there was never any mention of the significant Indigenous history.
For anyone interested in local history, here is a piece that I've just written.

At another place in the walk the very muddy path was covered in the flowers dropped by a nearby tree. They made the mud quite beautiful.

At one stage of our walk we walked through masses of butterflies. It was lovely! I reckon they should rename the walk 'butterfly path' and then people would flock to it.

Today we went for a walk in the Macedon Ranges. This photo is of Sanitorium Lake which is a small artificial lake built for a tuberculosis hospital which was never built. Apparently koalas like the trees at the end of the lake though we didn't see any.
