Sein Sohn Alexander der Große ergänzte später die Gruppe um eigene Ahnenfiguren, was makedonischen Einfluss auf die Olympischen Spiele festigte. Der Rundbau aus pentelischem Marmor symbolisiert wurde zum dynastischen Siegerdenkmal.

A new #study has #redated the #origins of the #Macedonian #kingdom from the 7th to the #6th century BC. #Methodologically, the reconstruction is based on ancient textual sources and archaeological evidence from #burialsites in Lower #Macedonia.
