Is there any language out there that is easy enough to learn in a short time? Well yes, there is one (if you consider it a real language) – Esperanto. I have heard people claiming that they learned to speak it in a week or so. To me the language is simply a joke. “We cannot speak English well, and we feel inferior”, say the Esperantists. “So, let’s make up a language and speak it so that it is ‘foreign’ to everyone, just to be fair!” Sorry, after a century or so, people don’t really buy into this initiative. Esperanto never takes off.

Esperanto only gives people a false sense of satisfaction so that they think they can really pick up a language very quickly. But then why don’t we go for even simpler ones, such as Toki Pona, which only consists of 120 words in its vocabulary. Everybody can really learn it in … no time!

Certes, toute langue peut évoluer vers quelque chose de prestigieux, je n'étais pas entrain de dire l'inverse. Mais comme vous l'avez dit, la culture pirahã ne semble pas avoir donné le besoin à son peuple de développer une langue avec un vocabulaire très étendu, sans doute parce qu'elle suffisait amplement à la vie de ces gens.

1) i see tokiponists want something to connect SostiMatiko with toki pona. I think yes, we can connect, through the main concept of minimality in both vocabulary and grammar, and generally avoiding compounds (although SostiMatiko was NOT inspired by tp, it was born quite independently. I tell you how elsewhere). If you use SostiMatiko with only -o for nouns, -i for active verbs and -a for adverbs, it is pretty analogous to tp, only it has almost double vocabulary in order to avoid ambiguity.

Принципиальный недостаток всё-таки помимо прочего (и превыше прочего) в излишней сложности. А на самом деле, здесь мы видим порочный круг:
— Я не учу эсперанто, потому что его сложность перевешивает возможную пользу от знания этого языка, так как говорящих с гулькин нос. Так же поступают и другие. В итоге число говорящих не увеличивается и популярность не растёт.
Если бы выполнить хотя бы одно условие: радикально упростить язык или начать агрессивно его насаживать, тогда он быстро выпутается из порочного круга и наберёт популярность.

С токипоной ситуация строго обратная. Как не один раз сказано выше, польза этого языка не только и не столько от коммуникации на нём с другими людьми. Польза лежит в мировоззренческой плоскости. Польза огромна, да ещё и выучить легко.

Если ты хочешь казаться умным, то эсперанто тебе не подойдёт из-за простоты своей грамматики. Lojban, латынь, санскрит или старославянский лучше подойдут для этой цели. Если тебе нужно что-то очень простое и забавное, то займитесь Toki Pona.

If you want to seem smart, Esperanto will not suit you because of the simplicity of your grammar. Lojban, Latin, Sanskrit or Old Slavic are better suited for this purpose. If you need something very simple and funny, then take up Toki Pona.

Je suis d'accord.
Crée une nouvelle langue avec sa grammaire à elle offre beaucoup de chose. Rien que la façon de penser avec cette langue.
Par exemple avec le toki pona et le lobjan, on a déjà deux systèmes de grammaires complètement différents qu'il n'est pas inintéressant de comparer entre ces deux langues et avec les autres langue.
