Un coup de blues ? Gare à la mélancolie, mère de tous les vices, nous dit Cranach ! Peintre phare de la Renaissance germanique, il a consacré à ce thème cher aux humanistes plusieurs tableaux. Parmi eux figure ce chef-d’œuvre : "La mélancolie". Scrutons d’un peu plus près ce traité anti-spleen aux couleurs flamboyantes, autant inspiré de l’iconographie d’Albrecht Dürer que des préceptes de Martin Luther :
