Apricity (2022): the warmth of the sun.

Although some definitions suggest it is specific to the warmth of the sun in the Winter, I've always just know it as the warmth of the sun on a cold day.

Despite the summer look, I took this photo on a cool October day. The cool air of the coastal #PNW warmed slightly by the afternoon light that barely cutting through the #Forests canopy as I walked down the trails.

The Light We Cannot See (2022)

I named this image after a statement a friend made upon seeing it. We had gotten up early and met at a local park with the intent of shooting #landscapephotography together - at the end of the day they felt that had failed to capture an image, and, upon seeing my image asked to purchase a print of it as a reminder of the things we fail to see.

A very windy sunset in front of the iconic Vestrahorn.

This tree has sadly fallen over since I took this image, but, to think of how incredible this tree was when it was alive, before it was hollowed out by a fire. At its death, the tree was over 1.5m in diameter! That's thick!

Ice Fields Parkway - Anyone recognize this famous peak?

Taken on my own road trip through the area back in 2023 it was hard not to stop and take a shot with this kind of light.

The Wolf's Paw

Often I show up early to pre-compose a shot leaving me waiting for the sun to shift and the light I wanted to reveal itself. This gives me lots of time to explore the areas around me, sometimes allowing me to stumble onto small scenes like this.

On this occasion I found pockets of air trapped in the ice, with a few pockets having broken the surface to reveal what look like a canine paw.

This particular sea cave is only safely accessible at low tides, so you have to time the tides right as to get the channel flowing.

For #MountainMonday:

Low clouds from a passing storm swirl around Indian Arm and Mount Underhill with Hixon Peak and Mount Bonnycastle in the background. This view of Indian Arm and the surrounding mountains was photographed from Burnaby Mountain in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
