Small language note from my Legend of Zang Hai watch: at one point there's a small joke/riposte over the name Zhinu because why would you name your kid with Nu which stands for 'slave', but apparently it also means young child.
Reading elsewhere this isn't just a fictional point but an actual mandarin bit, so that's cool that's 20 seconds of dialogue that just encapsulated a key point of grief between Malay and Indonesian speakers lmao (in Malay budak is very straightforwardly a child; in Indonesian that's a foot servant or slave more than the other meaning. But no Malay speaker who's not used to Indonesian would even guess the word they'd actually use, which is bocil)
Also, god bless modern camera sensors so the show can also make a big deal about using natural lighting but after a certain point you kinda have to wonder about the in-universe reason for why a person would need so many frickin candles in a room.
So one of the big deals about Legend of Zang Hai is how it's shot on a live mic ie hot set because I keep finding refs on how much XZ worked on his enunciation etc and the audio engineering is really really good but not everyone in the cast availed themselves to the opportunity because I can hear the difference in waveforms when the ADR kicks in. And because they share many scenes together that's especially apparent with Zhang Jingyi. Anyway, I blame (undiagnosed) autism.
