Low Tide on the Thames

Pull the river back a few metres and London grows a beach. I caught this stretch of Thames foreshore at low tide, the water was a proper builder's-tea brown, the City stacked up behind like someone had emptied a box of glass towers. I love springer spaniels, so I had to photograph this.

It was our first day of the holiday, and I can still remember exactly how we drove down to the seaside, just as the tide was going out, and she spent ages watching, fascinated, as the creatures that had been freed from the water crawled and scuttled about.

That was on the west coast of Denmark, and even though there isn’t much of the sea to be seen, that’s what makes it "World Oceans Day" (#PhotoSuggestion) in my eyes.
