in me the moon rises
in me the sea swells
in me the surf breaks

my heart awakens
to the song of waves
my tides
seek you out

i carry too much ocean within me
for a quiet life

all of me is drawn to you
again, again

with you i want to be the tide
with you i forget the shore
with you i am
open sea

A short three-line micro-poem, in French, German, and English: maybe a modern haiku.

fenêtre de nuit –
tu touches la corde
mon à peine retour

nachtfenster –
du prüfst die saite
mein kaum zurück

night window –
you touch the string
my barely return

Now the poem I just posted is also in rhyme :) :*

I send you five kisses,
the shortest still shakes.
For you, one is rain,
one sunrise awakes.

The third of the five
loses its haste,
the slowest one stays—
in night’s soft embrace.

Here is the poem I wrote this morning, still lying in bed, now in English instead of French.

morning breath
on my secret

beneath the warm blanket
still a hint of you
you wake me

in the coffee
your mouth lingers
as if the night
had left it for me

no message yet –

i check
sip and check
sip and wait

coffee in bed
the blanket around me
all around
still warm
from your imprint

You are the harpist.
In your hands,
my body forgets
it is a body
and draws tight
toward what longs to sound.

You barely touch me —
and still, in the dark grain of silence,
a string lifts,
as though it had been waiting.

I am not the one who plays.
I am the Maybe.
No more than that.
The tremor before the note —
the one that, when you fall silent,
does not come back to me.

so many stars unravel night
like secrets pinned in glimmered light
we choose a small red spark to keep
a single flame that glows so deep

and when we lift our eyes above
through hallowed dark and yearning love
our gazes meet
upon its sheen
though light-years wide
we touch between

(To the one I love.)

i do not open you —
you open yourself
and i
become still
page by page

we speak in languages
older than words

we read slowly
lest a single letter slip

we linger
until the lines recognize us
under our hands

aww read me
while i discover you
not to explain
only to stay

as i read you
you write me forward —
under your hands
in my breath
quietly
between two beats

and eventually
we hardly know
who carries the story
and who is carried

Whether the weather be dreich or fair, my luve,

There were never strawberries
like the ones we had
that sultry afternoon
sitting on the step
of the open french window
facing each other
your knees held in mine…
