The "Blériot XI" airplane that was used on 25/July/1909 by Mr. Louis Blériot in the first airplane crossing of the English Channel (between Calais, France, and Dover, England). That flight made him into a celebrity and his company made around 900 airlplanes that were variations of this Type XI. There was a prize of £1000 offered by a British newspaper to the person who would first achieve the channel crossing by airplane.
