@apples_and_pears @kneilknits @knitting Wow.

Indeed, finding space to use it will be more difficult than making the loom! But it would certainly make amazing blankets.
Ever considered an S-loom instead? That would be more compact.

I've made my own looms, sure, but very tiny ones. I wanted to make finer-gauge i-cord looms (aka "knitting nancy") because the standard ones are like, four pegs quite wide apart, or six pegs equally wide apart, and I wanted, say, six pegs with a very fine gauge, for things like jewellery making. Did a fair few experiments with things such as paper clips, cotter pins, cardboard rolls and metal tubes. The best ones were made with cotter pins and metal tubes.

My mantra is "the right job for the tool". What loom knitting is best at doing is (a) knitting in the round, and (b) double knitting (as you yourself said). If I want a double-knit chunky squishy scarf, a straight loom is my tool of choice. They are great scarves, thick and warm.

I don't actually find loom-knitting faster, though. Kind of frustrating, really, that I can't do a loom-knit stitch as fast as a needle-knit stitch -- but I suppose the loom-knitting is "faster" in the sense that the things it is suited for are so much easier on a loom than on needles.

I can understand why some people consider loom-knitting to be "trainee knitting", though. Because it is easier than needle-knitting -- and because it is marketed to children. I admit I learned loom-knitting before I learned needle-knitting because with loom-knitting I figured I wouldn't have to worry about dropping stitches. (Strange, I was so worried about dropping stitches before I actually learned needle-knitting...)

Now i've finished my first ever sock the question of whether to wet block or not to block ...

It's currently a *smidgen* too tight but blocking might makes it just way too big..?

I was loom knitting so much in the past couple days, the nerves in my arm got sad I'm like 2/3 of the way done with this sock! Hoping it fits!

For anyone else who uses a knitting loom, is there anything you do posture-wise to reduce repetitive stress troubles?
