I just finished quilting my first "real" quilt on my new longarm machine (which really needs a name!), and it turned out pretty good, even though I messed up a couple times. I'll trim and bind it tomorrow. Probably. Oh! Need to make a label, too!

I'll probably turn yesterday's practice quilt into a pet bed for a small pet.

Quilting News: (in case I forgot to mention previously) SpousalUnit bought me a new longarm machine and frame. The lady from the shop came over and set it up for me (with a bit of help from me). There was some angst around missing parts, but once that was sorted we got it up. I managed to actually quilt on the practice cloth they sent me, then made my own practice quilt yesterday. So far it's automated quilting, but I hope to eventually learn to freemotion on it.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I was able to finish setting up my machine - without help! - and actually got it to stitch a few blocks, by following the instructions.
I put the video on one of my websites, as it's too big (even at just 20 seconds) to post here. Let me see if I can get this to work:

Alt: a longarm quilting machine is stitching out a design on a piece of practice fabric. It is loud, repeatedly stabbing the fabric with the sharp, new needle.

The really good news of the day.
Quilts are back from the longarmer! (Stitched in Color)

Just thought of this and it seems to be working! I’ve always had difficulty lining up my backing fabric between the front and back longarm rollers (no matter how many times I measure from the center) Today I centered marked measuring tape on each roller and made sure my ends matched up to that — it was the fastest I’ve ever gotten a backing on! It’s nice and taut and there’s nearly no distortion 🙌🏻
