I know we all joke about passing around the same mutual aid $20 bill, but in a polycrisis world, it feels like there's also a parcel of moral support and caring that we pass around between people in different kinds of crisis and hardship, too. Everyone gets their turn to give and receive it (in my circles anyway). The reciprocity is much healthier & more comfortable than feeling like a constantly needy friend.

So why aren't there any COVID- and immune-compromised-safe dating / friendship / escort services out there? (Or are there??)

There are still so many people who are really vulnerable to this new disease are still isolating, some alone. That's not ok. Everybody deserves to feel skin-on-skin contact - a hug from a friend, a lover's caress - *something* that reassures our systems that we are still here, still present with others.

Today marks six years for me of living in isolation without human touch.

I am feeling both the milestone and the accumulation.

My full heart goes out to everyone else hitting their own anniversaries around this time of year.

It is brutal. And it is still better than COVID.

We're rapidly closing in on my 6 year isolation anniversary.

Thinking of changing my legal name to Elizabeth Báthory in observance...

...except I've outlasted her by two years and counting.

I emailed St. Margaret's, the church that issued this covid policy, to thank them for sharing it and to let them know how much it moved me.

The pastor emailed me back personally today -- and now I'm in tears all over again.

A friend sent me this Covid Policy Statement (from a church in Vancouver, Canada) and I feel so seen that I'm in tears. It's well written and relatively comprehensive. It is also an astonishing example of care and compassion combined with science to inform an approach to covid.

I'm sharing it here for the many Fedi friends who may be heartened by it or find it useful.

I'm having a bad flare today. Gonna bender watch Lord of the Rings. I think I need to see the small and the kind take down big evil.

I have very lil cog so won't be tooting, but if you want to lie on the couch knowing someone out there is also on the couch watching LotR, I'm here.

I would totes watch it a again with more structure if someone wants to take the lead in setting up a watch party over the next few weeks.
