Er wordt geschreven dat James 'Iron Head' Baker 63 was ten tijde van die geluidsopname. Dat is wat John #Lomax (die samen met zijn zoon Alan voor de opnames zorgde) destijds noteerde. Maar dat klopt niet. Uit later later archiefonderzoek blijkt dat hij geboren was in 1884, en hij werd 60 jaar oud. Wellicht loog hij over zijn leeftijd om aan zwaar werk (dwangarbeid) te ontsnappen. James Baker was ook niet zijn echte naam.
