In what way is pouring a bit of leftover coffee away depositing or disposing waste 'in a way likely to pollute land or water'?
How could the ordinary person be expected to be aware that this was the case? I certainly wasn't.
It used to be the case that you could assume laws would be enforced sensibly, enforced in ways that reflect the actual danger they were designed to protect against; but not now.
This law was presumably designed to prevent people pouring chemicals away for instance. And when I say chemicals I mean things like solvents, cleaning products, weed killers etc.
And who gets to decide if the LA enforcement was aggressive? The LA does.

I could not find any CQC Local Authority Assessment League Tables so created some myself.
Assessment Period: August 2024 - September 2025 | 72 Local Authorities Assessed

The CQC website has several pages of links to all local authority adult social care assessments it has completed to date. Each assessment page has another link to the outcome summary for the respective local authority.
I could not find an aggregated table of results to make easy comparisons between them. Clicking link after link to display each summary page in a new tab was not going to work.
I spent a few hours today coding with prompts to Claude Sonnet 4.5 via Perplexity to create the interactive reports linked below. Make of them what you will. AI slop?
