Ever notice how sloppy the Windows 8 and 8.1 desktop tile templates look, as if they just kinda slapped it together without caring about giving desktop users a good first impression of Metro?

Compare to Windows 10 where it's a lot less sloppy looking:

I just want real Live Tiles on my phone again.

Erinnert mich an die gute alte Windows Phone Zeit. Die besten apps waren nicht offiziell 🤷‍♂️😂

@derek @windowsonwindows I think that #LiveTiles is like the #NextStep dock, but in fullscreen
Last night I had a #dream that #Microsoft heard what users were saying and said that they would bring back #LiveTiles in an update to #Windows 11. Personally I don't find them useful on my computer, but they're indispensable on phones. I'd surely welcome them back, though.
#Android is by far the worst-designed mobile OS. At least #Windows10Mobile had some redeeming qualities kept from #WindowsPhone (the best-designed OS) like #LiveTiles, and even my feature phone OS did just fine getting me text messages, calls, voicemails, and remaining minutes/texts. But who decided that it would be a good idea to put a color tint on backgrounds, even when they're black and running on an (AM)OLED display?!

Live Tiles, introduced in Windows Phone 7 (2010), are UI elements acting both as app shortcuts & dynamic information feeds. Part of Microsoft’s Metro UI, they were later added to desktop Windows in Windows 8 (2012). Kept in Windows 10, they were deprecated in Windows 11 (2021). #DailyWindowsFact #Microsoft #Windows #WindowsPhone7 #Windows8 #Windows81 #Windows10 #Windows11 #LiveTiles #Metro
