The first ones are blooming by my front steps. For a few weeks now, more and more will come out, in every shade from near white to deep purple via pink, blue and lilac. Calcifuge plants, they like my garden and woodland, but they're absolutely nuts at an old lime quarry in the vicinity. Time for the yearly trip there!

As well as fungi & galls (see previous post), here is a video of a calming small waterfall in The Dripping Well in Hastings Country Park. Water cascades over golden saxifrage, mushroom-headed liverwort and the very rare oceanic Dumortier's liverwort of which half the country's specimens are found only here. Stream flows through a fern glen out into the sea, 200m behind me.

Finland celebrated #vappu today, but I was more excited about finding these flowers, liverworts, at last. I have not seen them in these parts of Helsinki before.
