little egrets, whose population is said to be declining in Japan, are the largest group in this colony. there are still some individuals that seem to be looking for a mate, some couples carrying branches and building their nest, and some of them seem to be finished and sitting on quietly (so they may be incubating eggs). I'm watching from quite a distance, it's really good for them since we cannot get close. #littleegret #bird #nature
2 photos of the little egret taking off (and as usual, I zoomed in too much and the tips of its wings aren't in the shots 😂) #bird #nature #littleegret
I've heard that the summer plumage period is not so long, so I can't help but take lots of pictures whenever I can get a little closer (3 photos) #littleegret #bird #nature
its summer plumage spread out more than expected in the wind, spilling out of the frame #bird #nature #littleegret

the little egret couple seemed to have made good progress on their nest and were settling down #bird #nature #littleegret
in a colony where grey herons, little egrets, night herons, and cormorants coexist, it seems that conflicts over nesting sites occur... this appears to be a scene where a night heron tried to take over a nest being built by a little egret, which angered the egret and continued to threaten it for a while before finally taking it back 👀(4 photos) #bird #nature #littleegret #blackcrownednightheron
