As I was working my upcoming #FOSDEM talk "The Linux Phone App Ecosystem" (https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/VH3GYN-linux-phone-app-ecosystem-2026/) I thought: Maybe I should ask my followers.. So here we are:

What do you want to know?
Which projects do I have to mention?
What should I focus on?
Which apps do you enjoy the most?
What are you missing?
What are you worried about?

FOSDEM 2026 - The Linux Phone App Ecosystem (2026)

Does anyone know of any regularly updated blogs about apps and functionality on #jolla #sailfishos. I'm thinking of something in the same vein as This Week In Rust or similar.

Lilbits: iPad-style multitasking on iPhones, and maybe Lenovo didn’t leak any Android PC plans after all

Last week news started to make the rounds that Lenovo has published a web page spelling out the pros (and many cons) of PCs running Android. But Lenovo has since removed that website and claimed that it had nothing to do with Google’s plans to bring Android to PCs in the future… although it’s unclear why Lenovo published that page in the first place.

In other recent tech news from around the […]

Would #LinuxPhoneApps Office Hours be interesting?

Long term, i'd like to establish a regular monthly slot, but it would likely be around 12:00 (AM) UTC timeslot on fridays to fit into my dayjob/private life schedule.

Signal Messenger is a really good app.

Full stop.

But it's preventing me from adopting a Linux Phone.

I can't get away from iOS or Google because of Signal.

(and "degoogled" AOSP with sideloaded Signal doesn't make sense to me. I can't sort it out. I'm trying to.)

Looking at who I talk to on Signal, I wonder if I can get another end-to-end encrypted messaging app that compares to Signal that would run on a Linux phone and that I could migrate all of my friends and family over onto (so it would have to be crossplatform with iOS and Android.)

Anyone have any recommendations (from personal experience. I'm doing lots of DuckDuckGo searches and wading through AI slop right now).

I wanted to maintain #AppStream metadata for #BitRitter so i could use it for #LinuxPhoneApps and #FlatPak packaging. But it is so overwhelming at first when you are not familiar with is.
I wish there was like a guided activity for it like an install wizard back in the days.

@Dimension, you seem not to follow the development very closely. If you want to stay tuned I'd suggest you follow @linmob who assembles regularly a nice overview over what happens inside the mobile eco system.

The battery life became a lot better. I'm using a Librem5 since early 2022. I charge it during night and use it during day. In case I could be running out of power I keep a second battery around.

The development of #PureOS #Crimson got stuck somewhat lately, but it's already deployed on the #Librem11 and it already works somewhat on the Librem5.

If you look for hardware less open, secure and privacy respecting with improved battery runtime you should look at the #postmarketOS pages for a device.

The #Pinephone of my son regularly gets updates from postmarketOS.

Look at #LinuxPhoneApps https://linuxphoneapps.org/ to find native software. I lost track following all the latest additions.
