Whistles the last 20 or so notes of Ohio State's fight song fanfare
Got Mint running on my good PC! The weird thing is it demanded a file named mmx64.EFI and the bootable disc creator in Mint 20 didn't generate one, but I followed instructions and renamed grubx64.EFI to mmx64.EFI and it worked.
Some of the apps I use (Vivaldi) were hidden behind an, "unverified" filter that Mint put in for 22 and I had to turn that off.
Remaining issues I can think of atm:
• I might have to deal with setting up a MOC for Secure Boot
• My data drive (nee D:) is read only.
• I can't get Mint's Firefox to make PWAs.
• Steam is demanding a 32bit driver for my GPU even though it's 64 bit.
• I still need to log into like, 8000 more things.
I found the bug description:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218826
It seems as if this #Kernel driver bug is solved with kernel 6.8.10. My #linux_mint_22 is on 6.8.0. So I have to wait for an update and stick with the (annoying) workaround of the BIOS option to deactivate WIFI when plugging in LAN.
Temporary solution is to set BIOS to disable wifi when connecting LAN. Or to Boot with LAN already connected.
I even swapped in a new harddisk and tried with a new installation of #linux_mint_22 (same problem) and #LinuxMint21 (no problem).
I suspect it is the newer kernel (afaik 6.8 vs. 5.15). Somebody having a similar problem of even a solution?
Would be nice to usw wifi and LAN simultanously e. g. for router configs and updates.
2/2
Edit: corr. kernel 6.8 not 6.3
