Love these brightly coloured murals in a pedestrian underpass below the southern access road to the Clyde Tunnel in the Linthouse area of Glasgow. They make what would otherwise be a rather dark and dingy space much more pleasant to walk through.

Love this trompe-l'œil style mural on the ground floor of an exposed tenement gable in the Linthouse area of Glasgow. The adjoining tenement, which would have completed a residental block enclosing an internal back court, was demolished to make way for the southern entrance to the Clyde Tunnel, which opened in 1963.

These strikes were aimed at preventing landlords substantially raising rents at a time when many men were away fighting in the trenches of the First World War. The strikes, which involved 25,000 working class families, lasted until November 1915, when under threat of the rents strikes boiling over into a general strike, a law was introduced by Asquith's government in Westminster to ban excessive rent increases.

This rather odd little building squashed between two tenements on Cressy Street in the Linthouse area of Glasgow was originally built in the early 1900s as the Cressy Halls. It might not seem a very auspicious building, but it played a pivotal role in the Glasgow politics of the 20th Century. It was here in May 1915, at a meeting led by Mary Barbour, that the Glasgow Rent Strikes were declared.

The second of the two new gable end murals in the Linthouse area of Glasgow. Situated on Burghead Place, it was created by Gera1. It's based on an easly overlooked fleeting childhood moment.

The 1914 design office of the shipbuilders Alexander Stephen and Sons in the Linthouse area of Glasgow. Starting in the Moray Firth in 1750, the firm opened its first Glasgow shipyard in Kelvinhaugh in 1851, before moving to this site in 1870.

I love the shape of the entrance to the former Elder Cottage Hospital on Drumoyne Drive in Glasgow. Founded by Isabella Elder in 1902, it was designed in a Late Englsh Renaissance style by J.J. Burnet.

The Linthouse Building at the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine. Designed by James Spencer, it was originally constructed in 1872 at the Alexander Stephen and Sons shipyard in the Linthouse area of Glasgow. The yard closed in 1982, and rather than simply being demolished, the building saved and moved to its current location in 1990.
