So, whenever possible, I stick to household solutions to remove rust -- #LemonJuice, #BakingSoda, #Vinegar -- and a lot of elbow grease. As for rust-proofing the objects afterwards? That can be a bit problematic, since it seems most rust-preventing paints for metal contain #PFAS (I'm looking into alternatives. #LinseedOil paint might be good for metal). Mineral spirits and paraffin wax are another way to rust-proof metal, but both are #petroleum products. #Limonene and #beeswax might be a petroleum-free way to #RustProof metal, but I haven't tried it yet (though I have both on hand). Feel free to chime in with suggestions!

Within the last two years I started to experiment and work with materials I did not use before. this wall-piece is made of a found and weathered woodenartist frame, a leftover plywood plate with linseed oil paint and a little round object made of mud/clay, swamp lime paint and pigments. no title (click&treat) 29 x 24 x 4 cm (rectangle object) 40 x 12 mm (round object) weathered wood, plywood, linseed oil paint, mud (clay), swamp lime paint, pigments #art #mastoart #artistframe #contemporaryart #pixelfedart #lehm #clay #mud #linseedoil #lime

Hej Pixelfed.

Some changes I might do:

(1. Fermenting rather than pickling Clementine Peels.

(2. Using Vodka or Sake rather than rubbing alcohol.

(3. Further experimenting with shades of Off Black.

Finished coating our cedar Adirondack chairs in #LinseedOil and now they look better than when we got them!

Luckily, my dad did remind me that rags soaked in linseed oil can spontaneously combust in the trash, so I'm making sure they dry out in the sun before I dispose of them.

Well, that one arm of the chair I managed to put #LinseedOil on is repelling water nicely!

Now I just need a week of sun to dry the rest of the chairs out so I can do the rest.

Finally getting around to slathering some boiled linseed oil on our wooden outdoor furniture. Amazing how much the chairs have dried out in less than a year. I should probably store them in the garage next winter.
